A 7th century hollow moulded terracotta figure of a female court dancer.

Shown mid dance, kneeling with arms raised showing the characteristic long sleeves and eloborate hair style of the period.

The original painted decoration was applied after firing and prone to wear and losses, this figure has retained much of the black, red and white pigment.

An elegant and sensitivley judged piece.

Central Asia, Circa 618-906 AD.

Provenance- Wemyss family collection, Fife.
