A fine and rare ebonised Regency centre table.

The rectangular top profusely decorated with flowers, fruit and foliage on a black ground, ornamented by a repeating Greek key bronze moulding.

A full length folio compartment sits behind a single frieze panel, original lock and key. Raised on a scrolled, fluted and tapering X-frame terminating in gadrooned collars, joined by a turned central stretcher with diamond lozenge. Original unpolished brass cup castors.

The top is alive with flowers, acorns, lemons, strawberries, apples, pears, figs and grapes, bordered by a green band decorated with intertwining ivy.

English, circa 1810.

An exceptional and probably unique table, a similar example of this base is seen in the Admiral's Room at Castle Howard.
